Use the Firmware

This page explains the normal behavior of a board once Bee Thing Firmware is installed.

For commands, the WiFi portal, the serial port, and diagnostics, use the reference pages.

Normal Cycle

With a valid configuration, the board wakes up, measures, sends data to Bee Thing, then goes back to deep sleep until the next wake-up.

On a sleeping board, the USB serial port may disappear from the computer. This is expected: the board is saving power.

Configuration Mode

Configuration mode is used to edit board settings after the firmware is installed.

The board can enter configuration mode when:

• it has not been configured yet;
• the saved configuration is invalid;
• the configuration button is used;
• a special configuration-only firmware is installed.

Buttons

On documented configurations, the BOOT button is used as the configuration button when the hardware preset provides it. It can wake the board from deep sleep and enter configuration mode.

The RESET button simply restarts the board. With a valid configuration, reset runs one measurement, then the board goes back to sleep.
